Frequently Asked Questions¶
The AniSocial info page is a work-in-progress.
Everything written here may drastically change over time. Please check back on a regular basis to see if there any changes to our policies and agreements. Thank you!
Not actually a FAQ because nobody has asked these questions yet but before you do, here they are anyway.
Can I create a community that is unrelated to anime?¶
We do not allow the creation of local communities that is unrelated to anime or otaku culture. If you would like to make a community that is unrelated to anime or otaku culture, create it in another instance that is federated with us.
Will AniSocial ever disappear?¶
While we cannot guarantee that AniSocial will be around forever, we will continue supporting it for as long as we can. In the event that AniSocial needs to shutdown, users will be notified a month in advance with a detailed explanation as to why.
Why do you resize image or media uploads?¶
We are trying to save as much as we can on disk space so images are automatically converted to WEBP or WEBM format with a maximum of 1280 pixels on either side of the image or video. This resolution is good enough for most devices and most types of images and videos.
We highly recommend using an external image or video host if you need to upload images with higher resolutions (like when submitting to !animewallpapers for example).
How is AniSocial financially sustaining itself?¶
AniSocial is sustaining itself through don. If you would like to help us pay for bills, you can donate through any of our donation platforms! Please note that donations are completely optional.
How much does it cost to run AniSocial?¶
It's difficult to say exactly how much it costs to run AniSocial. This is also information we would rather not disclose at this time.
